Abstract: Based on the idea that “digital humanities” aim to “redefine, raise and answer questions about humanities”, the future construction of China's ancient map data platform should include more new historical materials and more information related to ancient maps based on the key questions faced by ancient map research. In addition to the information related to ancient maps, the data structure should be oriented to historiographic issues, and at the same time should focus on establishing links with other data platforms and providing analysis tools needed by ancient maps and historiographic research, so that hot and critical historiographic issues such as the change of ancient Chinese territory and the transmission of information in governmental affairs can be explored. Moreover, the above design idea is not only applicable to the construction of the ancient map data platform, but also to the construction of many data platforms for “digital humanities”, thereby ultimately realizing the “digital humanities” in a real sense and promoting the development of academic research.
