Abstract: The discourse of “Wenming” in ancient China carries the in-depth understanding of good virtue and political governance by ancient Chinese.The discourse of “Wenming” focused on expounding the virtues of the sages and their political governance practices during the Han to Tang dynasties.Under the multiple influences of political reality and Neo-Confucianism concepts,“Wenming” began to be used in conjunction with concepts such as “China” and “Huaxia”,developing a clear meaning of cultural forms.Focusing on the subjects and methods of cultural governance,the discourse of “Wenming” played an important role in the HuaYi subject and the “Da-yi-tong” subject since the Song dynasty.In the area of historical theory,“Wenming” has become an important expression that expounds the beginning of the history of Chinese civilization in terms of the correspondence with concepts such as “Honghuang”,and on the other hand,it has also been used to explain the historical law of vicissitude of governance.
