Abstract: In Shiji (Historical Records),the narrations on the same incident vary in different articles, but they are all biased to the biographical objects of corresponding articles, which can be proved in many cases, such as the mystery on the biological father of Qinshihuang (First Emperor of Qin),and the calamity in Xiagong, etc.Historians have to make this kind of decision because they couldn’t find the truth when all the materials are controversial. The inclination demonstrates the skillful merging of good-seeking in the spirit of truth-seeking in Shiji, and reveals the fundamental features of the Chinese historiography in seeking good and truth in the wholeness.

Key words: Shiji (Historical Records), the inclination to the biographical object, the spirit of truth-seeking
