Abstract: Since the first generation of foreign Marxists such as Lukcs,the thought of totality has become an important basis for the later generations to criticize capitalist society and its ideas.In this process,important changes have also taken place in the totality thinking of foreign Marxists.In the Frankfurt School,on the one hand,the thought of totality is an important theme of their theory,and on the other hand,the reflection on totality pushes them to abandon the philosophy of identity and move towards philosophical thinking of non-identity.For the French Marxist Sartre,totality is a solidified existence,and the dialectic of Marxist philosophy emphasizes totality.The reflection on totality promotes the development of post-Marxist thought.How to construct a non-slavery and non-homogeneous totality has become their theoretical theme.The construction,deconstruction,and reconstruction of the thought of totality,on the one hand,embodies the contemporary evolution of Marxist philosophy,on the other hand,it also reflects the theoretical thinking of contemporary scholars when facing the changes of capitalist society.
