New Trends and Policy Implications of Global Digital Economy Regulation

Abstract: The regulatory practice of the global digital economy has constantly been adjusted and improved,presenting a trend of overall stability and slowdown,with greater emphasis on the formulation of basic rules which reflect national or regional characteristics.Several noteworthy trends can be summarized from the regulatory models and specific measures of various countries and regions:highlighting large-platformsupervision,strengthening industry compliance and fairness,improving data governance,narrowing the differences of major issues,and jointly formulating international rules.The international experience of digital economy regulation provides policy implications for China.In order to ensure the regulated and healthy development of the digital economy,China needs to make rational use of antitrust measures in the future,improve the accuracy and professionalism of its regulation,achieve multi-agent collaborative regulatory governance,effectively integrate with industry regulations,and establish a digital economy regulatory system that is in line with internationally accepted rules.
