Abstract: Post-disaster psychological assistance is a critical component of the disaster relief system of China. Based on the practical requirements of reinforcing the modernization of Chinese emergency response capacity,the concept of competency of post-disaster psychological assistance workers has been introduced in this paper.On the basis of systematically sorting out the concept of competency and its components,by comparing the core competencies proposed by various international organizations and major countries for post-disaster psychological assistance workers,and combining China's national conditions and relevant research conducted both at home and abroad,this paper has developed a competency framework for post-disaster psychological assistance workers with the characteristics of “grade-based”,“level-based” and “domain-based”.This framework includes six key competency indicators laid out like a pyramid:personal characteristics,basic knowledge,basic skills,professional knowledge and skills as well as supervision and training ability.Future work should focus on enhancing the in-depth research and circular demonstration of the competency framework for post-disaster psychological assistance workers,as well as deepening the practical application of this framework.
