Abstract: Mental health assessment refers to the regular scientific evaluation of individual mental health.Such assessment to primary and secondary school students is not only an inevitable requirement to improve the quality monitoring of compulsory education,an important means to boost quality-oriented education and promote the healthy development of children and adolescents, but also a significant guarantee for the realization of the Healthy China Initiative.Although China has formulated plans and policies related to the mental health of primary and secondary school students,a comprehensive mental health monitoring system has not been established yet.By combing past empirical and theoretical researches and summarizing international advanced mental health survey projects, this study proposes that the construction of a mental health monitoring framework should be based on the perspective of linking medicine with education as well as integrating international experience and localization. On this basis,a mental health monitoring framework with Chinese characteristics including students' mental health status and influence factors is formed, which provides inspiration and guidance for the application of mental health monitoring in the future.
