Abstract: The important prerequisite of the contemporary construction of historical materialism value orientation is to determine the construction path.This construction path includes the following three aspects:first,it should be reflected in the interpretation of the reform of historical materialism,expounding its inheritance and development of excellent values in the history; second,it should be reflected in the interpretation and analysis of the historical evolution of historical materialism,expounding changes of status and the role of value orientation with human development as the core in the evolution of historical materialism; third,it should be reflected in the construction of historical materialism theoretical system,and the value orientation with human development as the core should be established as the basic value dimension of historical materialism theory.
