Abstract: In Tang Dynasty,the Minzhong area,as well as Qianzhong and Lingnan,was a regular area for southern election.However,due to the intermittent implementation process which was very different from typical regular areas like Qianzhong and Lingnan,Minzhong was regarded as an irregular area by classic documents like Xintangshu.The reason why the intermittent implementation of southern election in Minzhong was that the central gorernment of Tang Dynasty had repeatedly adjusted Zhangzhou's political jurisdiction.When the central government in Tang Dynasty included Zhangzhou in Minzhong,the Minzhong area is the implementation area of southern election.However,it was totally another story when Zhangzhou was included in Lingnan.All in all,the Minzhong area constantly switched between the implementation and non-implementation area of southern election,for Zhangzhou changed back and forth between annexed territory of Minzhong and Lingnan.
