The Characteristics and Significance of Children's Aesthetic Education in the New Era

Abstract: Aesthetic education for children traverses multiple disciplinary domains such as philosophy, aesthetics, education, psychology, sociology and cognitive science.Nowadays, as participants in social activities, the distinctive features of children are constantly being discovered, constituting the foundation of modern childhood education practices.Based on research achievements such as the plasticity of brain development, the theory of multiple intelligences and the empirical studies on learning, and characterized by inclusiveness, reflectiveness, collectivity, and diversified evaluation system, the advocacy of aesthetic education for children today holds great significance at both individual and social levels.Besides cultivating aesthetic perception, broadening cognition and perfecting personality for individuals, as well as cultivating builders and participants with creativity and lifelong-learning abilities for society, aesthetic education for children is also a potent tool for condensing national emotions, perpetuating national spirit, and facilitating the inheritance of excellent traditional Chinese culture.
