Abstract: Educational anxiety is a widespread phenomenon among parents of primary and secondary school students in China. However, rigorous conceptual frameworks and reliable measurement tools remain underdeveloped. This study defines parental educational anxiety as a form of existential anxiety triggered by perceived threats to parents' educational values.Through thematic analysis of interview data, the internal structure of parental educational anxiety has been delineated, encompassing three dimensions:academic performance anxiety, competitive environment anxiety, and parenting self-efficacy anxiety.Building on these findings, the Parental Educational Anxiety Scale (PEAS) has been developed, exhibiting robust reliability and validity.Furthermore, a structural equation model has been utilized to test and refine a conceptual model of influencing factors, highlighting the roles of proximal environmental factors, cognitive processes, and behavioral feedback. These findings have provided a theoretical and empirical basis for future research as well as the prevention and intervention of parental educational anxiety.
