Abstract: After the spread of Adam Smith's theories during the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, around the 1930s,the dissemination of the theories in China entered a new stage. The Commercial Press reprinted Yan Fu's translation of Yuanfu in nine volumes.More importantly, two new translations of The Wealth of Nations appeared, namely the vernacular translation by Guo Dali and Wang Yanan, and the abridged translation by Liu Guanghua. On the 160th anniversary of the publication of The Wealth of Nations, three special commemorative articles were published in the Shihuo magazine. At the same time, many scholars introduced and studied Smith's theories through papers and works (translations). The emergence of these related achievements indicates that Smith's ideas that had been expressed in the 18th century still received attention from the intellectual community in China around the 1930s.The dissemination of Smith's theories by the intellectual community not only promoted the development of modern economic thought in China, but also influenced people's thinking and actions about real economic issues.
