Abstract: Chinese aesthetics research in Western Sinology and Chinese aesthetics research in domestic academia, facing the same research object, presents different academic forms and theoretical styles.Western Sinology relies on mainstream Western academic theories and employs empirical research methods to elucidate aesthetic issues in Chinese art, starting from the common aesthetic principles in world art history.Western Sinologists focus on the non-personal and non-realism aesthetic features of Chinese figure painting, prominently emphasize the agricultural aesthetic characteristics of Chinese landscape art and its global significance. They elaborate on core concepts of Chinese traditional aesthetics, such as non-realism,sharawadgi,and abstraction, revealing that Chinese aesthetic thought has contributed to the formation of Western art traditions and it holds important significance within the contemporary Western aesthetic context.Research on Chinese aesthetics by Western Sinologists acts as a mirror of the Other, supplementing and enriching the understanding of Chinese aesthetics, and holds its special value.
