Abstract: CHEN Weisong (1626—1682) experienced various transformations of social identities, such as a noble man,a commoner of the country and an official of the Imperial Academy, but he always maintained the identity consciousness as a descendant of the aristocratic family. This kind of subjective and distinct identity consciousness became the gene, motivation and spirit of his parallel prose writing. The close relationship between CHEN Weisong's parallel prose writing and the sense of identity in the aristocratic family is manifested in three aspects:his pride of the family background and the brilliant talent and learning, his expression of the uninhibited disposition and the unbridled vigor, and his lament of the fate and pursuit of developing the spirit.Such identity consciousness nurtures CHEN's unique parallel prose which has been an important carrier of civilization inheritance and precious crystallization of cultural spirit in the early Qing Dynasty.

Key words: parallel prose, CHEN Weisong, the identity consciousness, descendant of the aristocratic family
